Good Morning Friends!
It’s amazing to think that the new decade is officially here! I hope you have welcomed 2020 with enthusiasm, belief, and determination for a momentous year ahead.
I always love the month of January. It reminds me of the quote by Paulo Coehlo, “If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.” There is so much promise for what is ahead and new roads to venture upon.
Before we dive into some tips of the week, I wanted to extend an invite for you to join me at my upcoming Leadership Challenge Workshops in January and March. Last year, I partnered with the Tech Collective to bring my flagship workshop to community more regularly. You can grab specific details below; there are still spots for my January training!
So, as you embark on your 2020 leadership adventures, here are a few things to jump-start your journey!
Create Your Big Bang Vision
Now’s the perfect time to invest in yourself. We are now offering our first-ever Inspired Leadership Series, a recurring event series that brings together local leaders, thought leaders and innovators like you for an evening of learning, connection and exploration. Our first Inspired event takes place in just one month on Feb. 5, from 5:30-7:30 pm and features my good friend Chris Poe as our spotlight speaker who will be talking about “Big Bang Vision.”
Like most pursuits, creating and executing against any vision—be it personal or professional—requires an immense amount of energy and focus over a sustained period of time. Join us to explore how to be intentional and focused about creating your big vision in a way that enlists others.
Learn more and grab your seat here! We are capping the group at 36 so be sure to sign up early!
[Video] Tried-and-True Advice
What if you had to summarize your life for the last time? What would you say? How would you recount your life? Take a few minutes to enjoy this moving and often humorous talk where a professor gives his Last Lecture. In the process, he shared his insights on finding the good in other people, working hard to overcome obstacles and living generously.
The video clip may be a bit older, but the life advice is still relevant. Check out this video here.
Invest in Your Talent
It’s not enough to just say you want to invest in your employee’s potential. You actually have to take action!
Did you know that organizations that extend development of high-potential talent below senior levels are 4.2 times more likely to financially outperform those that don’t? (Source)
Assume ‘Positive Intent’
“Whatever anybody says or does, assume positive intent. You will be amazed at how your whole approach to a person or problem becomes very different.” – Indra Nooyi
Is there any better quote for kicking off the New Year?
