Good Morning Friends!

Sometimes, I wonder if I am living in a bad dream. Secretly, hoping someone will shake me awake, and I will open my eyes never hearing the word COVID-19. Alas, this is no nightmare; it’s our new reality.

The last eight weeks have seen our lives placed on hold. Everything happened suddenly and without warning. We had zero time to prepare for social and physical lockdown, wearing masks, and most importantly the isolation.

But there is a glimmer of hope! We have flattened the curve. Cases and deaths are decreasing. Stay-at-home orders are being lifted across the country. And we are slowing but surely creeping back. Now, we must shift our attention from stay put to get into motion. We can start to get busy living. So, what if this time, we do it with greater intentionality?

As we head into the weekend, I want to leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

“You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” – Rahm Emanuel

What will you do with this opportunity?

Add a Little Empathy

I spoke quite a bit about empathy in my last newsletter. To keep the conversation going, check out my most recent blog (click here) for five ways you can become a more empathetic leader. I will leave you with one thing to consider: How you act today will define how your team will view you as we return to the safety of the harbor.

[Video] Never Settle

This video comes from one of my favorite movies, “Shawshank Redemption,” a film based on a Stephen King Short Story that was released in 1994. It’s about two imprisoned men who bond over a number of years, finding solace and eventual redemption through acts of common decency. It’s an amazing scene with one powerful lesson: never settle even if there are obstacles in your way. Check it out by clicking here.

Fall Leadership Workshop Retreat

This September, I will be launching a Leadership Workshop Retreat that will bring together 8 attendees across two days for a deep-dive, intensive leadership program. Comfortable with Unpredictability

“If life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavor.” —Eleanor Roosevelt

These last two months have thrown unpredictability and unease at us. Life seems to be changing at a rapid clip. But that’s the beauty of life. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities. Daily, we experience disruption, upheaval, and major shifts impacting our journey. It’s up to us to find the purpose in all of life’s moments.
